About Dr. Joe
Edwin K. Joe, M.D., was born in Suffern, New York. He attended Hunter College High School and the Pre-College Division of the Juilliard School of Music in New York City. He majored in Biochemical Sciences at Harvard College, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. He received his medical degree from Harvard Medical School and the Health Sciences & Technology program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He completed his Internal Medicine internship at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), Harvard University, followed by a dermatology residency at New York University where he served as Chief Resident. He then returned to Harvard Medical School where he served as the Clinical and Research Fellow in Laser Dermatology at MGH and at the Wellman Laboratories of Photomedicine, the world's largest medical research facility for photomedicine. During this year, he worked with a variety of lasers and light sources, both in the clinical and laboratory settings, and trained in a variety of cosmetic procedures.
Dr. Joe has published widely in both the clinical and basic science literature, and has presented at regional and international conferences.
He is a board-certified dermatologist; a Diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology; a Fellow of both the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, and a Member of the Dermatological Society of Greater New York. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Dermatology at New York University, and was awarded the Part-Time Attending of the Year 2005, at Bellevue Hospital, where he supervises resident training in laser and cosmetic dermatology.
